"DEVELOPMENT OF AQUACULTURE IN CAMBODIA"
BASIC INFO - PRESENTATION CAMBODIA

24th July (Monday) - 4th August (Friday) 2023 (two weeks). All participants should meet at latest on Sunday 23rd August on Sunday afternoon.

From the airport and from the centre, the University is in the direction to the Killing fields (MAPA), which is, fortunately, a "must see" tourist destination.
WHAT DO WE OFFER:
Overall goal of the summer school: Development and improvement of soft skills with focus on the field of aquaculture and the diversity of aquatic organisms in the region.
Educational objectives: The school will incorporate intensive lectures focused on Cultural awareness; Data acquisition and processing (where to get relevant information, review, focus group, how to work with information, ); Scientific writing and report writing (how to structure scientific text). Presenting skills (data processing, graphical excellence, presentation structure). Multimedia (digital photography and videography).
Planned activities: The summer school combines theoretical and practical classes as well as field trips in central Cambodia.
Dues: Accommodation and partially food are covered by the organizer. Students are traveling on their own budget. WHAT DO WE EXPECT:
Motivated students who are willing to participate in all activities actively. The more effort you invest, the more you gain ;). Students will work in small teams and be requested to prepare and give a short presentation (+ discussion) about the chosen topic/project.
Necessaries:
- travel insurance
- passport (valid until the end of 2023)
- think about your visa application in advance, if you are planning to visit other countries except Cambodia
- in Cambodia, you'll get the Visa "on arrival" at the airport, BUT you need "passport photography" + 30 USD (last year price)
General recommendations:
- vaccinations for the Southeast Asian region
- photocopies of personal documents + copies accessible online (dropbox, etc.)
- small change USD, until you'll exchange local currency ORIENTATION PRICES
- you can easily purchase a local SIM card at the airport just before the EXIT, the price is rather low
- The taxi or "tuk-tuk" driver often does not speak English and can not read the map. Thus, the map or business card of the desired destination in both English and Khmer is recommended, together with a telephone number of some local contact (someone from RUA). The number we'll provide. In recent years mobile Apps such as "Grab" (preferable) and "PassApp" are working well.
