Oldrich Rakovec is an Associate Professor of Hydrology and a Research Excellence in Environmental Sciences (REES) Fellow at the Faculty of Environmental Sciences, Czech University of Life Sciences Prague. He leads the AQUARIUS Research Lab, which forms part of the Hydrological and Climate Variability (HCV) research group, led by Professor Martin Hanel. His research focuses on large-scale hydrological modelling, parameter estimation and hydroclimatic extremes, particularly droughts and floods. He combines hydrological models with observations and climate simulations to understand changes in water availability and assess the influence of human-induced warming on extreme events, from catchment to global scales. His work has appeared in journals including Nature Climate Change, Nature Geoscience, Science Advances and Earth’s Future. He co-convenes the Large-scale Hydrology session at the EGU General Assembly and regularly reviews manuscripts for international scientific journals.
