Prof. Ing. Pavel Ryšánek, CSc.

Education and practice:

  • 1982 University of Agriculture, Prague, agronomy,
  • 1987 CSc. (PhD.) Institute of Experimental Botany of Czech Academy of Sciences (Reproduction of viruses in plants infected by phytoplasmas),
  • 1987 – 1990 researcher, Sugar Beet Research and Breeding Institute Semčice (Virus diseases of sugar beet),
  • 1991 – 1999 University of Agriculture, Prague (CUA), assistant professor,
  • 2000 associate professor (Rhizomania of sugar beet),
  • 2000 head, Department of Plant Protection, CUA (later CULS),
  • 2011 full professor.

Long-term stays abroad:

  • 1988 3 months Belozersky Laboratory of Plant Virology, Moscow State University (former Soviet Union),
  • 1990 - 1991 1 year Laboratory of Sugar Beet Diseases, INRA Colmar (France),
  • 1993 3 months Laboratory of Sugar Beet Diseases, INRA Colmar (France).

Educational activities:

  • lectures in General Phytopathology, Protection of Horticultural Crops, Protection of Field Crops, Fundamentals of Plant Protection, Diseases of Crops of Temperate Climate, Plant Virology,
  • guarantee of MSc. programm Plant Protection,
  • since 1993 supervisor of PhD students, till now (2014) 36 students defended their theses, from this 6 from abroad,
  • since 2003 head of the board for PhD studies in Plant Protection of CULS.

Scientific work:

  • diagnostic methods for the detection of nematodes and viruses, virus diseases of sugar beet, cereals, fruit and wild trees, fungal diseases of winter rape and cereals, potato late blight.
